My first riding experience was at the age of five and the equestrian bug took hold of me. I wasn’t allowed to formally start my rider training until I turned six, but it was at that age I started my riding lessons at the local riding stables, Brampton Stables. I continued my lessons there for quite a few years leading to my joining Pony Club and taking part in competitions.
At the age of twelve I finally got my first pony! She was a 12hh Welsh mare named Bella and she taught me so much and brought on my confidence immensely. We took part in Pony Club competitions and fun days together but it was only a year before it was time for me to progress to the next level so we loaned out Bella; and along came Flake.
Flake was a loan pony, 13hh New Forest Mare, who took me to my first unaffiliated show jumping competition with a flying clear and placing first! I took part in many competitions with Flake throughout the nearby counties, often placing within the top 3 and clear.
As my career progressed I’ve owned a variety of different horses, and my current ride is a 15hh Irish Sports Horse called Presque Noirv, also known as Poppy. I bought Poppy to further develop my competing career due to her being an experienced showjumper with a proven track history.
Poppy and I also worked together as the demonstration rider and horse during the “British Horse Society on Tour” roadshow in 2020.
With a passion for the equestrian work I was extremely proud to launch my own business as Molly-Ann Equestrian Services in January 2020. I’m a BHS Level 2 Instructor providing freelance tuition at a number of riding schools around Northampton as an instructor with a busy diary of regular clients. Outside of the riding schools, I am a British Showjumping Level 2 UKCC Coach and provide private coaching and training sessions to established and aspiring showjumping riders.
I take pride in working to the highest standards in horsemanship and horse care, in looking after rider and horse. Lessons I have learned from my time volunteering and working at yards including Dovecote Farm for Team Stockdale and Foxhill Sports Horses with Michaela Webb, as well as the training received from world renowned Brampton Stables.
